Unreal Engine Introduction

While at University of Liverpool's Virtual Engineering Centre

Towards the end of my time with VEC, I had the opportunity to give Unreal Engine a try and expand my animation skills in that area too.

I was given the brief of simply adding body movement to a MetaHuman that was created to the likeness of a historical figure.

This specific brief was because the MetaHuman would be driven by an AI, which would be responsible for the MetaHuman's responses to questions asked by an audience. Hence the mouth movements and lip-sync would be controlled by the AI, but they still wanted to add more naturality to the character and thus requested me to add some body movement to it.

As this was my first time using Unreal Engine, it took about a day to figure out where are the corresponsive controls where from my knowledge of Maya, but once that was done I found it fairly easy to transfer my knowledge over to Unreal.

Unfortunately there were some skinning problems which I brought to the rest of the team's attention before my departure as I did not have enough time left with them to fix them myself as I would have liked.
